Restitution of Now!

On October 7 and 9, the Prime Minister of the State of the African Diaspora will be invited to the Africa-France Summit to deliver a speech on Restitution.

In this area, Dr Louis-Georges Tin and his parties have already accomplished many things: the law passed in France for the benefit of Benin and Senegal, the law passed in Belgium for the benefit of the DRC, and the resolution passed in respect of was the case. European Parliament for restitution and reparation. It is a historic movement, but it is certainly not enough.

ALL African countries should receive ALL their artifacts. This is why the Prime Minister wants the subject to be on the table during the French presidency of the European Union, from January 2022. This is now what he is discussing with the French authorities.

In the meantime, SOAD is launching a major campaign to give more impetus to the Prime Minister. On October 1 and 2, the government organized an international conference on restitution. Specific guests included Chief Fortune Charumbira, Speaker of the African Union Parliament, Co-chair of the Royal Chamber of DICO; the special representative of the President of the African Union, President Félix Tshisekedi; Daagbo Hounon, Supreme Leader of the Vodou Cult; Saliou Mamadou, grandson of the former President of Guinea, Sekou Touré.

For this occasion, www.restitutionmuseum.com , a beautiful website designed by Theo Chambers, SOAD Web Developer, has been inaugurated, where everyone will have the opportunity, perhaps for the first time, to see photos of the most beautiful artefacts from Algeria, Angola, Benin, Congo, Egypt, Gabon, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Mali, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Uganda, etc. And people will see where these artifacts are held: in Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Netherlands, Portugal, Sweden, Switzerland, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States, in the Vatican, etc.

Also, on the site, several interesting documents are available, such as books or pictures from films, like the famous museum scene in Black Panther, where Killmonger grabs the Vibranium artifact, and tells the director of the museum: "How think you know that your ancestors obtained them? Do you think they paid a fair price? Or did they take it… like they took everything else? "

At the end of the conference, SOAD also launched the “Adopt an Artefact” operation. Many VIPs like
Dr. Julius Garvey, Marcus Garvey's son, have been asked to choose an artifact, symbolically adopt it, and promote it wherever they can, including on their social media. But also, the younger generation is invited to do the same. In the SOAD network of the African school, which includes more than 700 schools, all children will be invited to adopt an artefact, and teachers will have the opportunity to develop different activities related to history, expression, philosophy, art, etc.

In conclusion, the Prime Minister made the following statement: “I would like to thank Kandake Houindokon, our Deputy Prime Minister Hugh Johnson, and Tassi Aïdji, our Minister of Historical Heritage, who are working with me on this campaign. It is a question of cultural identity, spiritual integrity, human dignity, economic development, political sovereignty. We cannot all have someone to steal our property. We will not tolerate this.”
